Floods 2010: Causes, Development and Experience


Summary :
in 3. - 5. November 2010 will be a conference with international participation organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Regional Development in the Hotel Baník in Štrbské pleso.

More informations :
Floods which occured in the territory of the Slovak Republic in May and June 2010 are rare in flood history in Slovakia. Ministry of Environment assumes that it is necessary to provide the public with related knowledge. The same situation was in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Polland and therefore the knowledge and experience acquired by foreign experts are the important part of the upcomming conference. While dealing with flood issues, we appreciate the possibility of international exchange of experience represented by this conference. We all know that not only climate changes bring floods and cause
damage but it is also necessary to talk about landscape natural ability to control the river outflow and make the life for the people living in the valleys safe.
