Our Institute is committed to improving the handling, treatment and utilisation of sewage sludge in agriculture in order to eliminate its harmful effects on soil, water, plants, human and animal health, and to thereby ensure its correct and safe reuse. As required by Council Directive 86/278/EEC on the protection of the environment, and in particular of soil, when sewage sludge is used in agriculture (Sewage Sludge Directive), we collect, verify, process and evaluate data on the sewage sludge produced in municipal sewage treatment plants and data on sludge handling methods. Such data and information are published on an annual basis.

Since 1 January 2022, we have released such evaluation reports annually within the first eight months of the relevant calendar year.

Data disclosure according to Council Directive 86/278/EEC
